The U.S. Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB) is cracking down on enforcing the regulations against ship-first-get-paid-on-sale deals. They've been given additional funds to continue the crackdown that so far has taken action against 28 small, North Coast California vintners and importers, who allegedly took part in illegal consignment sales. The TTB allowed wineries to take one-day suspensions of their basic operational permits instead of going into a hearing. The prime target in the TTB's investigations seems to be New York-based Angels’ Share Wine, but the TTB has not yet brought a case against the importer.
